About us:

While in Vietnam, Roger “Bear” Young served with A – Troop, 3/17 Air Cav of the 1st Aviation Brigade from ’69 – ’70 as a Scout Platoon Crew Chief. A-Troop was attached to the famous 1st Cavalry Division during the Cambodian Incursion of 1970 and the Silver Spurs at that time were based at Quan Loi near the Cambodian border. For its role in Task Force Shoemaker & the 1970 Cambodia incursion, A-Troop was awarded a Valorous Unit citation – our nation’s second-highest Unit Award. [Ref: General Orders #3560 - 12/27/71]

“Bear” is honored to have served with the courageous men of A-Troop Silver Spurs which was awarded numerous unit citations during its deployment to Vietnam. The friends that he lost will not be forgotten. Roger is currently a member of VFW & VVA

Pam was with the Navy from 1970 to ’74. She was with CINCPAC Joint Command and worked on Operation Homecoming for the return of some of our POWs from the Vietnam war which was an event of mixed emotions for her. Pam is currently a member of VVA and co-editor of this newsletter.
