5\u00a0Feb 2010:<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a grandpa I often wonder, what kind of future\u00a0are we leaving\u00a0for our children and grandchildren?<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the alarming rise of\u00a0our national debt, the lack of heavy industry in our country, and the raiding\u00a0of our social security by\u00a0countless administrations, I am very<\/span> concerned.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today, politicians look at fiscal policy only looking towards the next election cycle.\u00a0They are not concerned how their spending binges\u00a0today will impact our nation’s\u00a0future, and I’m convinced they could care less.\u00a0 Remember they sold\u00a0us on international trade and trade agreements like NAFTA, and what do we have to show for it?\u00a0 Cheaper electronics and fewer good paying jobs with good benefits as major industry fled the U.S. for cheaper labor markets. We were promised this was a good thing for one and all. It never made any sense<\/span>!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another personal\u00a0observation is that government workers not only have the excellent perks, they now have salaries that are well above the private sector.\u00a0 There was a time\u00a0only a\u00a0generation back when my father entered civil service for the good retirement benefits and job security at a lower wage.\u00a0 It was a good trade off. \u00a0Government workers\u00a0still have all the benefits\u00a0plus what has become\u00a0excessive salaries which we, as a nation, will not be able to sustain as our government continues to grow.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today we have a very professional military that is engaged in a protracted war on terrorism.\u00a0 As the budget crisis\u00a0grows there will be cries to slash the defense and intelligence\u00a0budgets,\u00a0two of our nation’s largest expenditures, which will\u00a0gut our nation’s defenses.\u00a0 I see no other option as a coming day of financial reckoning looms in the not-too-distant future.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perhaps that is the grand plan?\u00a0 To destroy our very defenses from within? To tax the middle class into extinction? To be the first generation to leave a worse future for our children and grandchildren? \u00a0Isn’t that a wonderful legacy! That’s what I foresee if the American people won’t start holding their elected officials accountable for their irresponsible actions!<\/strong><\/p>\n
