Finals on Labor Day weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul entered this race in a very respectable 4th place in the Sportsman standings and Chris was in 17th place in the very tough Super Pro bracket. An important evening for Chris as\u00a0the top 16 from Super Pro make the team and the top 10 from Sportsman, and a vital points race for Paul to have a shot at defending his <em>Pacific Raceways 2011 Sportsman Track Championship<\/em> and to qualify for the <em>Race of Champions<\/em> at the E.T. Finals.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Both entered this race very much in control of their own destiny. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wcsaracing.com\/\">WCSA<\/a> quickest doorslammers here in the Northwest were also running their <em>Bad Dog Shootout<\/em> at Pacific\u00a0this weekend. In a Friday night qualifying session, Joe Loch ran the left lane after an oil down and the track somehow forgot to pick up some cones at approximately the 1,000-foot mark causing damage to the nose of his car. Saturday morning Barry Hobson &amp; Chris\u00a0were hard\u00a0at \u00a0work to make emergency repairs so Joe\u00a0could run eliminations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2563\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/northwestvets.com\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/loch-nose.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2563\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2563\" title=\"loch-nose\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/northwestvets.com\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/loch-nose.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/northwestvets.com\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/loch-nose.jpg 640w, https:\/\/northwestvets.com\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/loch-nose-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2563\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Repairing the nose on Joe Loch&#8217;s Cavalier &#8211; Paul Young photo<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>More updates as the evening unfolds! &#8211; <em>Roger<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">6:51 pm update<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The 60&#8242; times are off tonight in the heat of the day.\u00a0Paul reports because of the low car count the track has decided to give everyone two qualifying hits<\/strong>. <strong>Track conditions should improve as the sun begins to set behind the trees.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1st\u00a0Round<\/span>:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up is\u00a0Pro bracket, then\u00a0Super Pro followed by Sportsman, then\u00a0Motorcycle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chris won the\u00a01st round in Super Pro with a 10.487 on a 10.48 dial to defeat Steve Beggerly. Steve was in 12th place in the points going into this race\u00a0and with this win Chris just went around Steve in the standings. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul won his 1st round in Sportsman running a 12.66 on a 12.60 dial. The guys are off to a great start this evening.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2nd Round<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chris won this round running a 10.464 on a 10.46. That&#8217;s 31 very\u00a0valuable points in his column so far tonight. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul lost in the 2nd round with a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8211; .001 red light<\/span>! He ran it thru running a\u00a012.589 on a 12.61 dial. We&#8217;ll need to wait and see where he stands\u00a0in the Sportsman points when they are posted next week but he <em>should<\/em> certainly make the team. We&#8217;re hoping he has earned enough points to make the <em>Race of Champions. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3rd Round<\/span>: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chris lost in this round when he broke out running a 10.409 on 10.45. Like Paul, we&#8217;ll need to wait for the points update to see where he stands.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Once again our thanks to Justin Jung for all his help this evening!\u00a0 We appreciate the assistance!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I will update this post\u00a0when <em>Pacific Raceways<\/em> updates the points. &#8211; <em>Roger<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">UPDATE AUGUST 14th 2012<\/span>:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Edwards &amp; Young<\/em> has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TWO<\/span> cars in the E.T. Finals!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chris is currently tied for 11th place in Super Pro with 200 points and made the <em>Pacific Raceways<\/em> team for the E.T. Finals.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul is currently in 4th place in Sportsman and eligible for the <em>Race of Champions<\/em> at the E.T. Finals.
