{"id":3108,"date":"2013-03-12T15:06:29","date_gmt":"2013-03-12T23:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northwestvets.com\/blog2\/?p=3108"},"modified":"2013-03-12T15:06:29","modified_gmt":"2013-03-12T23:06:29","slug":"proposal-to-pacific-raceways-for-future-stick-shift-bracket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwestvets.com\/blog2\/2013\/03\/12\/proposal-to-pacific-raceways-for-future-stick-shift-bracket\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposal to Pacific Raceways for future stick-shift bracket"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>March 5, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">John Ramsey, Ed Garfield:<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWith the implementation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/northwestvets.com\/blog2\/2013\/03\/03\/automated-shifters-allowed-in-pro-bracket-in-div-6\/\">automated shifters in Pro Bracket<\/a> this year and your 2013 schedule set, I offer as a consideration for your 2014 season a gear jamming\u00a0type event or two for the stick-shift cars in line with the rules of the <em>B.C. Super Shifters<\/em> operating on a full tree with dial-ins.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAn E.T. class open to all stick shift cars, including clutchless transmissions, that use a clutch operated by the driver&#8217;s foot to leave the starting line. Here are the key <em>B.C. Super Shifter<\/em> rules:<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">GENERAL COMPETITION RULES AND GUIDELINES<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">1. All cars must meet NHRA tech requirements as per ET Rules. (i.e. cars running 11.99 require a scatter shield and roll bar also belts as per NHRA rulebook.) <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">2. All cars in competition must have a clutch engaged transmission. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">3. The operation of the clutch shall be a direct action of the driver&#8217;s foot. Approved dampening system will be allowed for non soft lock clutches or clutchless transmissions. No adjustment allowed by driver or crew after the burnout box and therefore must be covered if mounted inside driver&#8217;s compartment.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">4. All gear changes must be a result from direct action from the driver. Pneumatics, hydraulics shifters prohibited. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">5. Any clutch assisted automatic must be manually shifted. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">6. No timers or delay boxes allowed. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">7. Once the vehicle is in motion, nothing can affect its operation other than driver. (i.e. no throttle timers, electric shifters) <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">8. No vehicle substitutions during eliminations. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">9. All competition ladders will be run as per NHRA Sportsman procedures. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">10. Coin toss for lane choice. Whoever wins toss has the option of changing their mind and choosing the other lane if they so wish, but it must be done before entering the burnout box. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">11. Super Shifters Assoc. <\/em>but I would prefer to see the track offer something like a &#8220;Gear Jammers&#8221; bracket and have control of the operation, entry fees, etc.\u00a0 You could set the spread of the bracket E.T. wise, i.e.\u00a08.00 &#8211; 14.00 (just an example)\u00a0as with the other brackets,\u00a0modify the rules as needed. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Such a stick-shift bracket could fit in well with your Nostalgia race.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Looking forward to discussing this proposal with\u00a0you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Roger Young [Phone]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">March 12, 2013<\/span>:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>I spoke with Ed Garfield, drag strip manager at <em>Pacific Raceways<\/em> this afternoon.
