He is using 31-spline <em>Moser<\/em> axles with a limited-slip differential and we are looking to improve his 60&#8242; times with an upgrade to a spool. When we get the 3rd member apart, we&#8217;ll also replace the pinion seal and if it has a crush sleeve, we&#8217;ll replace that with a pinion bearing spacer &amp; shims. We&#8217;ll have more updates as we move forward!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Updates on Paul&#8217;s <em>Moser<\/em> Ford 9<\/span>&#8220;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>December 21, 2020:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>We got the differential torn apart, tightened the pinion bearing preload .003&#8243; (it did have a bearing spacer, not a crush sleeve which was good), ordered the new <em>Moser <\/em>3.062\u2033 bore case 31-spline spool and bearings, ring gear bolts, new pinion seal and differential gasket and gear lube. Nice to have it done! With the lowering of transmission gear ratios and less static and centrifugal pressure in our <em>Ram<\/em> clutch today, I can see possible improvement by raising the launch RPM for 2021 to improve our 60&#8242; times from testing in 2020 to take advantage of the centrifugal assist on a tight track.
