Updated June 23, 2016:
Video Pam took this weekend featuring Paul on Saturday, and the BC Super Shifters on both Saturday & Sunday. We had a GREAT time racing our fellow stick-shift cars, but Paul lost a transmission pump seal during Sportsman eliminations on Saturday, and we now have noisy 9-inch rear gears in the ’57 after some HARD launches! We’re very pleased on how well the ol’ buggy is running! We’ll be installing a new Strange center-section before our next race with the ’57 and keep the old Strange center-section and damaged gears as an emergency backup.
Since putting the 350 in the ’57 last year, the ’57 has averaged a 1.454 60-foot, 10.611 @ 126.663 MPH. Sixty-foot times are deceiving with our ’57 as I’m pulling 2nd before the clock where the car is not under power. We’re pleased with that level of performance and I’m delighted with the new headers Chris made over the winter. They like more jet!
Here’s the averages with our old 331 over many years. 10.827 @ 124.399, 60′ average 1.492. Same heads, cam, intake, carbs. 331 had 5.83 rear gears, 350 has 5.67s
My sincere thanks to Chris, Paul & Pam for all their support and hard work during this weekend! And our thanks to the crew at Pacific Raceways for a great track despite the showers on Saturday! – Roger

Sunday, June 12th, Jim Doyle pic. The track was tight to keep the front end that low and still hook hard. 10.591 @ 126.08 MPH 1.449 60-foot at 7500 RPM launch

Destroyed pinion out of the ’57. We knew these gears wouldn’t last long, reset them up to make sure the gear ratio was correct for the 350. Replacements on the way!

Scott Nation’s high-flying Dart, one of our favorite BC Super Shifter cars. He trips the 60′ clocks with his rear tires, and we believe he grabs 2nd while still in the air! Scott runs low 9’s. Jim Doyle photo:
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly!

Great Job on the Super Shifters video Pam Young. I was out there biut never found you guys in the pits on Sunday. Roger, it’s still a kick in the shorts, watching you hammer the gears in the Five-Seven. What FUN.
Thanks Terry, the ol’ buggy was running very well this weekend. We’re close on the carb jetting with the new headers. Still a tad lean but very close! We may go to some taller front tires or slow the clutch linkage ratio down to give us less redlights in the future because the chassis is reacting so hard on the launch.
Rear gears are making some noise after the 1st round on Sunday, but they were a used set of 5.67 gears we put in it for the new 350 engine, not surprised they’ve bent. Be well my friend!
