I’ve always liked Mission Raceways, B.C., because of the hospitality and probably due to the fact our ’57 ran its quickest run of 10.54 @ 126.840 mph. The tech inspection has always been tougher at Mission. Our ’57 also made it to the final round (runner-up) at the Langley Loafers race in 2001.
Chris prefers Bremerton Raceways where the traction is very consistent. The Handlers run a good program! He had a runner-up finish with our ’71 Chevelle at the National Open in 2006 in Super Pro.

Pacific Raceways is our home track and has always had the greatest potential if under good management. The track prep can vary depending on track personnel.
What’s your favorite track?

I personally like Mission Raceway just because of the pride that the people have in putting on a good show for the racers and fans. The other great thing about there is that it is a better deal for the family in relation to other tracks and the payout for the racers is not too shabby also. Maybe someday PR will be like there but only time will tell!

Paul, as you know Pacific Raceways has a new drag strip manager for ’09 and we’ll see shortly how that works out!
Much depends on the size of the budget he has to work with. And I agree, that Mission seems far more friendly to families and spectators in the cost department. At Mission we see many more spectators for their events.
Years back when we raced in Modified Production, it was very much a family event for many teams which we truly enjoyed. The wives and kids were very much involved in this sport. Unfortunately, we see far less of that these days!
I have two major complaints with PR at the typical Saturday night bracket races. If you race in Sportsman or Pro Bracket, it is a frenzy to get thru the gate to the pits, get thru tech inspection, get buckled in, and make the call for your first qualifying run!
My second beef is they often do not prep the track that much before your qualifying runs. Then, just before the first round of eliminations, they prep the starting line thus negating your data from you qualifying hits to make a solid dial-in for your first round!
However, when the track temps rise to above 115-degrees, all must have sympathy for the track personnel working in that heat and understand that traction is going to be a problem!
Out here in Maryland our local track Capitol Raceway did a complete turn around for the better last year
Maryland International Raceway is an Excellent track also
If the rumors are correct, all the track personnel that were at Pacific Raceways in 2010 are gone! What is it with Pacific that every couple of years a crew which has started to gel is gone to start the process all over again?
Could it be the ownership?
