December 2021 Winter Progress Report

Jim Doyle pic of Chevelle on May 4th 2019, 2nd or 3rd round

’71 Chevelle Wagon:

It has been since September 2019 since Chris’ wagon hit the strip. Last winter we installed new PacAloy valve springs and he is currently working on replacing his roller lifters with a new set of Isky Red-Zone Endurance lifters to extend the life of his 406 SBC engine. He will also need to re-certify his driver restraints, wants to replace his slicks and will need to purchase a new helmet for the 2022 season. He’s also working on getting some weight off the back of the car.

We’re looking forward to seeing the Wagon back out at the track!

Update March 15, 2022:

Chris has the new lifters in the motor, new 9310 4.86 gears in the rear, new & smaller/lighter fuel cell in the back and nearly ready for 2022!

His 4.71 rear gears had 300 runs on them since we set them up!

Update March 27, 2022:

Today Chris fired up the wagon and set the ignition timing, next stop the track.

’57 Chev:

If we decide to run the ’57 in 2022, I’ll need to re-certify the belts and inspect the left rear axle for spline twist after our runs in 2021. This fall we took both static and centrifugal pressure out of our Ram clutch.

Update:

On January 30, 2022 Jamie Roth announced due to Covid requirements at the border, all B.C. Supershifters events were going to be held at Mission Raceway’s in 2022 which makes sense. Therefore I’ll be parking our ’57 for at least the 2022 season.

This pandemic has completely disrupted my plans for the ’57 along with other stick-shift teams in our area, and at my age, I no longer have the desire to spend the time and money to move forward. – Roger

’85 Mustang:

No upgrades scheduled at this time, in fact Paul may take the 2022 season off from driving his car and focus on more activities with his son, Isaak.

’66 Pontiac:

No upgrades scheduled for Torri’s car at this time. – Roger
