For those who want to become total couch potatoes, here’s the car for you!
I have one question; how does the car pay the parking fee? Or is that another app?
The car parks itself about as well as some of my neighbors can parallel park! – Roger

Not about racing, but Pam and I have been to Alaska and witnessed small glacial calving events which only lasted a few seconds, but this is an incredible and somewhat frightening event I had to share with you!
Here’s the description regarding this YouTube video:

“CHASING ICE” – IN THEATERS NOW.
See this and more on the big screen, showtimes at www.chasingice.com/showtimes
“On May 28, 2008, Adam LeWinter and Director Jeff Orlowski filmed a historic breakup at the Ilulissat Glacier in Western Greenland. The calving event lasted for 75 minutes and the glacier retreated a full mile across a calving face three miles wide. The height of the ice is about 3,000 feet, 300-400 feet above water and the rest below water.
“Chasing Ice won the award for Excellence in Cinematography at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, and has won 24 awards so far this year. Playing in theaters now.”
Opinion:
After receiving my copy yesterday of NHRA’s National Dragster, I see what Paul was talking about. We will only receive the publication on a bi-weekly basis. Of course membership fees will remain the same!
They say they will have more tech articles but I have to believe the current very limited Sportsman coverage will be cut even more to make way for the professional ranks and the Mello Yello ads.
I view this as nothing more than another cost-saving venture by NHRA at the expense of the Sportsman membership. It perhaps is a indicator on how NHRA is doing financially, but that’s just pure speculation on my part. But I predict in a few years the mailed edition will be dropped entirely and their publication will only be available online. Hard to share that version with your neighbors and friends to expand the racing audience but what do I know? – Roger
NHRA NOW – Posted January 24, 2013:
Brought to my attention by my good friend, Dave Tela. An interesting discussion and it is reported our military is testing this fuel for possible future widespread use:
Is algae the answer to greener transport?

For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on. At a recent computer expo (COMDEX) Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, “If Ford had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon.”
In response to Bill’s comments, Ford issued a press release stating:
If Ford had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part):
1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash – twice a day.
2.. Every time they repainted the lines in the road you would have to buy a new car.
3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.
4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive but would run on only five percent of the roads.
6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single “This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation” warning light.
7. The airbag system would ask, “Are you sure?”before deploying.
8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.
9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
10. You’d have to press the “Start” button to turn the engine off.
PS – I’d like to add that when all else fails, you could call “customer service” in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign language how to fix your car yourself!
Mountain Motor Pro Stock Racing’s Early Years – CompetitionPlus – December 30, 2012
1st installment – 2nd installment – Conclusion
It was fun times at the 1st Annual Turkey Shoot Nat’s at Pacific Raceways, even with the torrential downpour and cold weather. We had about 50 + or so of our fellow racers & friends show up at this event which was hosted by Ed Garfield & John Ramsey of PR with special guest announcer Stevie Wong.
There was a life sized practice tree along with all of the electronics provided by Bracketstars and low & behold Edwards & Young Racing represented themselves well! I won the championship taking out Dave Wakefield (Dad) in the finals with a .002 rt to his red light of -.001 ouch!!!
I had some really tough opponents along the way including Dustin Martin on the semis.
They proceeded to do another practice tree competition as we all were not ready to go home and once again Edwards & Young Racing came out victorious as Justin Jung whom was an integral help this year for us took out Mark Cavar in the finals as they both went red but Justin was last to do so. Mark put a stop to my win streak in the semis with a .008 rt to my .017 rt, was hoping to meet Justin in the finals. Congrats Justin! Oh, it doesn’t end there as Justin also won a raffle drawing for 2 3-day tickets to the 2013 NW Nat’s!!!
We had a lot of fun and can’t wait for the 2013 season, hope everyone have safe & happy holidays.
Sincerely, Paul Young

’71 Chevelle:
Chris recently spoke with Wilson Manifolds concerning the World Motown 4500 manifold on our 406 in the Chevelle.
After giving them the specifics, they recommended that Chris remove the cloverleaf from the manifold that reportedly causes some fuel distribution problems, and install their 1-1/2″ tapered spacer. Reportedly this should improve the midrange and upper end horsepower & torque in the motor:
’57 Chev:
We have the engine back in the car and ready to go. Details are posted here.
’66 Tempest:
Update January 29, 2013
There is some concern about the number of runs on the engine, therefore Torri will only be driving her Tempest on a limited basis for 2013. Paul has decided to drive for another owner, Ron West, for the 2013 season. – Roger
