On the weekend of August 26th, 27th, and 28th, Chris will be racing his Chevelle at the NW Summer Bracket Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Super Pro, usually loaded with many high-end dragsters.
This is the big-buck bracket race here in August, formerly known as the Sportman Nationals that has brought many excellent cars and drivers to Pacific Raceways the past years where you must bring your “A game” or go out early in three days of racing.
On Friday’s race, Chris will be digging deep into his team’s injured reserves and calling on me to assist him on the opening day of racing. I hope I’m up to the task! Paul will take over my duties on Saturday and Sunday and I’ll go back and sit on the bench 🙂
We’ll be going over the Chevelle this weekend to make certain we’ve covered all the bases for this upcoming race. – Roger
Update August 26, 2011:
After the 2nd qualifying hit on Friday, the left slick was rubbing against the frame rail. Chris also noticed a crack in the weld of the axle tube to the center section. We undoubtedly bent the left axle tube which ended our weekend.
We’ll be replacing our old 12-bolt with a back-braced 9″ Ford with our spare Strange center section from our ’57 with new 4.71 9310 gears, new ladder bars and track locator for the Chevelle over the winter. – Roger
This will be the first race I’ve attended this season! Chris must be desperate to call on me to give him a hand ! 😉
I need to find a motorized creeper for my naps and getting around PR!
I knew I shouldn’t have went! My first race this year and the rearend bends an axle tube! It’s a conspiracy I’m telling you! 🙂
