We don’t expect track conditions to be all that conducive to record runs this weekend as the forecast indicates mid 80’s to 90’s at Kent this weekend. Track temps will be well over 110 and present a challenge for the crews to get down the track. – Edwards & Young Racing – August 2, 2012

Comment: I think it is a real tribute to Pacific Raceways, their entire staff, and the NHRA crew that maintained the track under very hot conditions. Track temps reached or exceeded 130-degrees on Saturday & Sunday and the surface held up well under such adverse conditions.

Paving to the 330-mark earlier this season definitely improved the track and the Pros in NHRA should be grateful to Jason Fiorito for making the investment and the local racers that gave up several weeks of racing to make it all possible. – Roger

  1. Roger says:

Well, it was an exciting and hot Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways this
past weekend. We had big time drag racing, the Navy’s Blue Angels, and the
hydros running on Lake Washington for Seattle’s Seafair weekend. I watched some
of the tunnel boat racing and those guys are nuts! Hard to believe a boat can
    corner like they do.

Congratulations to Courtney Force with her victory in Funny Car & Erica Enders
for topping the always strong Pro Stock field on a very hot track. Allen Johnson
had the power to win but got a bit crossed-up on the launch in the semis and
Erica held off his strong top end charge to be in the finals against Jason Line.

On August 11th, Chris & Paul will be back out at Pacific Raceways running for
more points. This Saturday will also feature the “Bad Dog Shootout” featuring
some of the quickest door slammers here in the Pacific Northwest. It is unlikely
that this event will be completed before the 11:00 p.m. curfew but hopefully in
2013 with more races changed to day races, it will get better for all of us.

Chris spoke with Dale Green today of DG Machine and they will be bushing our two
damaged lifter bores in our 331 and replacing the cam bearings. Looks like we
can start putting the old ’57 bullet back together in early September.

Have a GREAT day! – Roger

  2. Paul Young says:

It sure was an exciting weekend, especially at Pacific Raceways. It was a history making national event that will be remembered forever as it was the very first time 3, count ’em 3 women won their respective classes!
Congrats again to the great work by the Pacific Raceways crew for there hard work leading into the event and during the event as they did an excellent job like Dad mentioned, bet they are super tired after being out in that hot sunshine all weekend.
Can’t wait until this weekend as it will be a big race for team Edwards & Young Racing along with many of our fellow racers. Have a great week and see you all at the track!

    • Roger says:

This weekend stay focused & passionate and both you and Chris will do well ! Although it is going to be difficult for the track to get the entire race in before curfew.
