Nostalgia Race, July 10, 2016 at Pacific Raceways.
In the 3rd qualifying round, the ’57 set a new E.T. record at 10.473 @ 127.26 MPH and it was on to the 1st round of eliminations. I cut a .016 light and was giving chase when the transmission blocked out going into 4th which ended my day. The data shows the car was on a 10.54 pass on a 10.53 dial, a bit disappointing not grabbing 4th!
Torri made it to the 2nd round of Hot Rod II before being eliminated when she couldn’t cover her dial-in and ran a 12.17 on a 12.14 dial. The new Holley main body is working well running some strong MPH throughout the day. A little more tweaking and we should have it.
Overall a fun day at the track! My thanks to Chris, Paul & Pam for all their support with the ’57. We’re very pleased with the performance of our old Chevy, a little transmission work and we’ll be set for 2017!
Below is video and pictures Pam took, and if Jim Doyle got some good pics we’ll add those later. – Roger
Video of ’57’s record run:
This weekend we’ll be pulling the transmission out of the ’57, and checking the valve springs after the transmission blocked out going into 4th in the first round of eliminations. I’m considering pulling 120 lbs of base (static) pressure out of the clutch while the transmission is removed for maintenance. I’m surprised it blocked out of 4th, the 3rd gear shift ring was showing the most wear when last inspected when we replaced the broken input gear some time back.
