Like last year, Pam took video of the fleet arriving for Seafair this year! GO NAVY!
Our 2014 Video:
Paul may have a full report in the coming days, this is our video report. The Mustang, Pontiac and ’57 ran well today!
With his solid showing today, Paul moved from 4th place to 2nd in the Pacific Raceways Sportsman points – Roger
Carl Thorsett of BracketStars puts on a 2-part points series for all of the Pacific Raceways drag racers which covers both the 1st & 2nd half of the points you earn for your respective classes. I won the 1st half of the series and got an awesome trophy along with $140! The buy-in is only $50 per half which is a great deal in my opinion. Carl hosts a bunch of car shows along with sponsoring the Pacific Raceways winners circle. He also provides trophies for the perfect light winners so a great program all around. Thanks a bunch Carl!
Paul Young – Edwards & Young Racing
Chris had his Chevelle running in Pro Bracket this weekend and Paul was running his ’85 Mustang in Sportsman. Not the best weekend for Edwards & Young Racing as both cars were eliminated by the 2nd round on both days.
In the 2nd round on Sunday, Chris broke a Comp Cams intake roller rocker below the trunion area, a first we’ve ever seen, and fortunately we were able to find all the pieces in the head. Obviously a rocker upgrade is in the works.
Paul’s Mustang is working better with the tubes in the slicks as his 60′ times improved this weekend and is getting more tire growth in high gear lowering his trap RPMs which is a good thing.
After this weekend, Paul has slipped to 4th in the Sportsman points and Nick Douglas is starting to run away from the pack. – Roger

We had three of the four Edwards & Young cars out this day racing for a Wally at Pacific Raceways.
Chris was racing in Pro Bracket with his Chevelle, and Torri and Paul racing their cars in Sportsman.
We are happy to report that the new Hughes Performance TH-400 in the Chevelle is working as promised as we’re seeing the car perform as it did a couple of years ago, recording a great 60-foot time of 1.390. And Chris had a perfect .000-second reaction time on his first hit of the day!
All three cars made it to the third round before being eliminated and Paul is now in 2nd place in the Sportsman points standings! Pam and I are very proud of them all ! Here’s video from the long day – Roger
This was a double-header weekend featuring the 10.5 fast-ass cars, the B.C. Super Shifters, and highly contested bracket racing at Pacific Raceways.
I was competing with my fellow stick-shift racers down from Canada with some local entries like myself and had a great time and we had about 15 gear jamming hot rods that put on a good show! And they have some very fast door cars running well into the 9’s.
Our ’57 qualified well on both Saturday and Sunday with a .035 reaction time on Saturday and a .030 reaction time on Sunday. The car was working well in the capable hands of my Crew Chief, Chris Young, and ran three runs over a 600-foot density altitude swing of 10.55, 10.56 and ran a 10.589 on a 10.58 dial in the first round on Saturday. Unfortunately I turned the tree red by -.007 seconds.
On Sunday on the second qualifying hit the car suddenly slowed to a 10.70 when we broke an inner valve spring and we lacked the time to make the repairs for the first round. My weekend was done but I had fun!
Paul did well racking up points with his ’85 Mustang and he’ll have more to report on this segment in the near future. His car set new personal records on Saturday running solid high 11’s during time runs. He’s currently in 3rd place in the points standings and only 10-points out of 1st. Some very tight racing in Sportsman this season, and it promises to be a barn-burner to the end of the points races!
Next up is Paul in his Mustang and Chris in his wheel standing Chevelle on June 20th! The Chevelle is back together with the new Hughes Performance TH-400!
Thanks to Robert Fedyk of Reaction Time Media, come take a few rides with us in our ’57! What an awesome video by Robert and an honor for our entire team! – Roger
================
Hey Dad!
It was sure an enjoyable weekend, glad everyone had fun as I know that I did!
Sat: I set new personal records of 11.866 ET on my 2nd qual pass and 113.47 mph in the 2nd rd of eliminations which unfortunately came in a lost as the throttle stuck at the finish line. My opponent that I lost to in the 2nd rd went on to win the race so I didn’t feel too bad all in all.
Sun: I had great lights all day and made it to the 3rd rd where I lost in a tight race against Nick Douglas as I had a .029 advantage on the tree but just couldn’t quite run my dial. Guess what, he went on to win the race too! It was a good weekend points wise as crept a little closer to 1st place, basically only a round behind.
It has been some really tight racing this year and I expect it to continue as the Sportsman class is getting tougher each & every year. This next race is one of the biggest of the year as it is for a Wally, here’s hoping that the lil man will make it into one of our hands for Edwards & Young Racing sponsored by Handan Trailer Repair & Sales.
See you at the track! – Paul Young, Edwards & Young
June 6th 2015:
Hi Race Fans!
It was a hot day at the track here at Pacific Raceways as it got to 87 and track temp was over 130+ but it was another successful day for myself & the Muskrat. I made it to to finals for the 2nd race in a row until I was beaten by Shaun Lyons in his Malibu as he did a great job all day and especially against me.
1st rd: Opponent went red, I had a .051 rt and ran 12.073 on 12.02
2nd rd: Opponent broke out while I had a .017 rt and ran 12.128 on 12.04 as I lost .030-seconds in 60-feet.
3rd rd: I raced my good buddy Gordon Rust for the 2nd weekend in a row and he went red by .006 while I had a .046 rt and ran 12.123 on 12.09
4th rd: I raced another buddy Craig Smith whom had a .032 advantage on the tree but broke out by more than myself as I went 12.054 on 12.09
Final rd: I raced Shaun Lyons whom got a big advantage on the tree and he was able to peddle it at the stripe for the win. I ran 12.114 on 12.04 as spun a bit at the initial hit and then spun going into 2nd.
It was a fast paced day as we had short cool down times, I made 3 passes in 57 min going into final round. The PR crew did another OUTSTANDING job as always, much appreciated to you all!
Looking forward to spending time with the family at the track this coming double header weekend as Dad will be running the 57 in the BC Super Shifter class and I will be back at it going for 1st place in Sportsman, currently in 3rd at this time. [Pacific Raceways Sportsman points]
Have a great weekend everyone!
Sincerely,
Paul Young – Edwards & Young Racing

Hello Race Fans,
It was a fun filled day in the sun at Pacific Raceways as we had Torri & myself running in Sportsman along with our friends Joe Loch running in the NHUA Outlaw class and Barry Hobson running in both Super Pro & Top Comp so a lot of excitement for sure. We got to meet our new sponsors Handan Trailer Repairs & Sales and talk about a class act as wonderful family, sure looking forward to the rest of the 2015 season with them onboard w/Edwards & Young Racing!
We had some really good laps in qualifying as Torri ran a best of 12.27 and I ran 12.087 on my 1st pass. I dialed Torri @ 12.24 for the 1st rd and she had her opponent covered on the tree but had an unfortunate issue at half track which cost her the race but she did a great job overall & should be golden moving forward in future races as the Pontiac is running like clockwork. I dialed 12.12 in my 1st rd matchup and due to some issues experienced by my opponent coasted through at 12.196 to take the win. In the 2nd rd I had to race my buddy Mac West and we had a great race but I got him as he broke out while I ran 12.065 on 12.06 dial. Moving onto the 3rd rd I took the win with a decent light and running a 12.103 on a 12.05 dial as my opponent was way late. The 4th rd was against another good buddy and track champ Gordon Rust and it was another epic battle between us as I ran 12.056 on 12.05 and got the stripe by .001 as he brokeout. The final rd was super close too as the Muskrat flew in the night air as on a 11.95 pace so I feathered the throttle & hit the brakes taking the stripe by .0132 but unfortunately I broke out by more as ran 12.001 on 12.04 dial to my opponents 13.138 on 13.16 dial, we were only separated by .004 on the tree.
I am estatic in how quickly we got the Muskrat running like a champ thanks to all of the hard work from Dad, Chris & everyone else in our family as I couldn’t have done this on my own for sure. Thank you all very much for the help & support as I am really looking forward to the rest of the 2015 season. We have Swift Tools race #3 next Sat June 6th and then the huge race coming up on on June 13/14th as Dad will be running the BC Super Shifters and I will be running Swift Tools Race #4 & #5 in Sportsman. I want to give a quick shout out to Joe Loch for running his new personal record of 6.666 @ 208 and Barry for making it to the finals in Top Comp, way to go guys!
See you at the track!
