Troops at DFW March 14th 2012 – Last Day

Submitted by Bill Reynolds, Spur 16.

March 14, 2012 was the last day that troops were going through DFW for R&R. Below is a YouTube video celebrating that occasion. Over 480,000 troops have gone through DFW over the years.

“This video was taken on March 14, 2012. It was of the last R and R flight coming to DFW International. We had in excess of 3,000 people there including several Tuskogee Airmen, and Congressman Sam Johnson a former POW of 7 years. We also had the Sergeant Major of the Army of which there have only been 14. The Commanding General for Ft. Hood was there as were numerous other General Officers. The one speech that stands out in this video is the one given by recent Medal of Honor recipient, Staff Sergeant Salvatore A. Giunta. I can’t believe he did not have notes or a teleprompter.”

  1. Bear says:

My personal thanks to all my fellow Spurs, veterans, and the very special support groups across the nation that have supported our troops through the many years of deployments during the War on Terrorism.

    God Bless you all !
