Movie: No Substitute For Victory

I had heard of this 1970 movie, but had never seen it. It’s now available on YouTube. Some would call it propaganda, but there is certainly truth here also. – Roger Young

The Communist threat and its zenith in Vietnam, is the focus of this video, hosted by John Wayne, with interviews of Lowell Thomas and Sgt. Barry Sadler.

Since this documentary was done in 1970, I have to wonder if it was a response to protests regarding the Cambodian incursion? I also have to wonder if we as a nation had the resolve in Korea & Vietnam like we had during WWII if we would be facing the global conflict we are facing today?

I’m not shocked that the State Dept. never wanted to win in Nam. They tied the hands of the military for years in Cambodia & Laos. All cross border military missions had to be cleared by the U.S. Ambassador of either country involved. This opened the door to security leaks and compromised missions.

I am in agreement with you Roger. Talking to diferent people who were viet vets you can see how washington cannot understand military operations. I can’t believe how a documentary from 1970 sounds like it is speaking of the problems of today. Gee we have come so far. Thank you for all this great information on the site.
