Thanks Roger, I was a scout flying with (sp) Capt. Hollendel all that day. Refuel load the mini -- gun. A very long day.
Day after Tet (maybe) reports of vc in bunkers outside of Bien Hoa. Rifles were inserted. pretty long walk through strange forest.. I was in last squad when ak fire erupted to our front wounding Johnnie Russell in shoulder Sgt Huggins in arm and another trooper in arm.Maybe Dobey. Marty Friswald received a serious head wound. Daryl Lewis eliminated enemy with m60. Marty needed dustoff. Chain saws were dropped in to clear an LZ. Dust off still needed to use Jungle penetrator. Strange looking helicopter looked like an egg beater. Fire erupted all around us and ship took off bouncing Marty along jungle floor. Things looked bleak until 11th cav arrived in apcs Scary ride home but uneventful.
Correction It was Daryl Morgan on the m60
